Brief Encounter Opens at the Watermill

Brief Encounter has opened at the Watermill Theatre in West Berkshire, one of the UK's most successful regional producing theatres. The revival of Emma Rice’s adaptation of Coward's great tale of illicit love is based on the 1946 film by David Lean. The adaptation is directed by Robert Kirby, with design by Harry Pizzey, Movement by Anjali Mehra, compositions and arrangements by Eamonn O’Dwyer and Lighting by Ali Hunter.

Noël Coward’s timeless tale of happiness and heartache is reimagined for the stage in a dazzling new production of this epic love story. With music and movement to make your heart soar, this playful and inventive production will take you by the hand and whisk you on a journey through all of love’s beautiful complications. The production will run from on 14 October 2021 until 13 November 2021.
